Bilingual Educational Project
The main goal of our bilingual project is to improve and expand the communicative competence in English of our students, in order to help them understand the world they live in and be able to communicate with people from different cultures. Hence, the goals set are the following:
- Promoting coordination among the teachers who are part of the Bilingual Teaching Department.
- Ensuring the correct functioning and coordination with the native language and culture assistants.
- Promoting the use of the English language to access information and culture in a constantly globalized world.
Raising interest in participating in projects and activities organized by international institutions every school year (Global Classrooms, Erasmus +, Debate Tournament …).
Proyecto educativo Bilingüe
Nuestro proyecto bilingüe se plantea como objetivo primordial mejorar y ampliar la competencia comunicativa de nuestros alumnos en inglés, con el fin de ayudarles a comprender el mundo en el que viven y comunicarse con personas de distintas culturas. Por ello, las metas que nos proponemos cada año son:
- Fomentar la coordinación entre los profesores que forman parte del Equipo Docente Bilingüe.
- Velar por el correcto funcionamiento y coordinación con los auxiliares de conversación.
- Fomentar la utilización de la lengua inglesa como un instrumento de acceso a la información y a la cultura en un mundo en continuo proceso de globalización.
Favorecer el interés por participar en proyectos y actividades organizadas por instituciones u organizaciones internacionales bien para este año o próximos cursos escolares (Global Classrooms, Erasmus +, Debate Tournament…)

Early Childhood Education
The first contact with languages other than their mother tongue takes place in the early stages of education. The teaching of the foreign language is centered on comprehension and expression and is carried out through games, songs, social expressions such as greetings and farewells, poems, etc., in order to achieve a positive attitude towards the learning of the language. Therefore, contact with the language will be granted in at least one of the sessions every day.
We also have the support of the Language and culture assistant, who, together with the teacher, is directly involved in this bilingual project, and practices the speaking skill through conversations with the students in small groups. It is also worth mentioning that since the school belongs to the BEDA kids plan, all students enrolled in Early Childhood Education, are tested their speaking skills at the end of this period of their education so as to check the acquired level.
Primary Education
The method used is based on communication, interaction and the emphasis on the oral code, without forgetting the written one. It is an immersion in the foreign language. Therefore, the use of the English language will be essential when communicating in class, encouraging verbal and non-verbal communication.
Our school has been carrying out activities to promote English since 2010 school year. Furthermore, it is also registered in the BEDA (Bilingual English Development & Assessment) program, an initiative in collaboration with Cambridge ESOL Examinations aimed at strengthening and improving English language teaching.
We have arranged organizational and pedagogical measures to ensure quality English teaching. For instance, the school suggests initiatives such as the performance of three bilingualism activities during this school year. Those responsible for these activities are native speakers who come to the school to interact with our students in different workshops. The program of activities includes storytelling workshops for the younger ones and escape rooms and role-plays for the older ones.
Secondary education
The objective in our secondary education stage is using the language fluently and naturally, in everyday situations, to understand and produce oral texts on specific topics, in a variety of accents, and standard styles.
Students will make themselves understood, express opinions or narrate events using an increasingly wide and specific vocabulary and with a greater degree of fluency and spontaneity. They will see English as a vehicle for communicating with speakers of other languages, for approaching other lifestyles and their own personal and professional interests.
At this stage, students will do digital bilingual exchanges with students from foreign schools, mainly from the United States. These exchanges will be free of charge and with the aim goal that the students find a real purpose in speaking a foreign language.
Educación Infantil
El primer contacto con otros idiomas se produce en la etapa de Infantil. La enseñanza de la lengua extranjera se centra en la comprensión y la expresión , y se lleva a cabo mediante juegos, canciones y actividades sociales como saludos y despedidas, poemas, etc., para lograr una actitud positiva hacia el aprendizaje del idioma.
Contamos también con el apoyo del auxiliar de conversación, quien junto a la profesora, se involucra directamente en este proyecto bilingüe. También cabe destacar que gracias a pertenecer al plan BEDA Kids, todos los estudiantes matriculados en Educación Infantil, son evaluados sus habilidades de expresión oral al final de este período de su educación para comprobar el nivel adquirido.
Educación Primaria
El método se basa en la comunicación, la interacción y el énfasis en el lenguaje oral , sin olvidar el lenguaje escrito. Se trata de una inmersión en la lengua extranjera, por lo tanto, el uso del inglés será esencial en la comunicación en clase, fomentando la comunicación verbal y no verbal.
Desde el año 2010 llevamos a cabo actividades de fomento del inglés , el programa BEDA (Bilingual English Development & Assessment), una iniciativa en colaboración con Cambridge ESOL Examinations destinada a fortalecer y mejorar la enseñanza del idioma inglés.
Hemos implementado medidas organizativas y pedagógicas para garantizar una enseñanza del inglés de calidad, como la realización de tres talleres anuales de bilingüismo. Los responsables son nativos que vienen al colegio a interactuar con nuestros alumnado en diferentes talleres. El programa de actividades incluye cuentacuentos para los más pequeños y Escape rooms para los mayores.
Educación Secundaria
El objetivo en nuestra etapa de educación secundaria es aprender el idioma con fluidez y naturalidad , en situaciones cotidianas, comprender y producir textos orales sobre temas específicos, en una variedad de acentos y estilos estándar.
Los estudiantes se harán entender, expresarán opiniones o narrarán acontecimientos utilizando un vocabulario cada vez más amplio y específico, con mayor fluidez y espontaneidad. Verán el inglés como un vehículo para comunicarse con hablantes de otros idiomas y para abordar sus propios intereses personales y profesionales.
En esta etapa, los estudiantes realizarán intercambios bilingües digitales con estudiantes de escuelas extranjeras, principalmente de Estados Unidos. Estos intercambios serán gratuitos y su objetivo es que los estudiantes encuentren un verdadero propósito en hablar un idioma extranjero.
Bilingual Courses at Centro Cultural Salmantino
As we mentioned before, bilingualism is being phased in one course at a time. The number of academic hours per week allocated to bilingual lesson is broken down as follows:
In Early Childhood Education we offer 5 hours of English on a weekly basis.
Students in Primary School receive the following subjects in English on a weekly basis: 5 hours of foreign language (English), 2 hours of Art Education (Music and Art) and 2.5 hours of Physical Education.
Secondary School has the aim to reinforce the use of English and oral interaction with communicative activities, preparing students for a near future in which they will live in an increasingly globalized, intercultural and multilingual world. The bilingual contents correspond to 9 hours of English per week: English Foreign Language (5 hours a week), Physical Education (2 hours weekly) and Computational Science (2 hours weekly).
Standarized Tests: Cambridge ESOL Exams
Since 2010, apart from belonging to the BEDA Program, our school provides students from Preschool, Primary and Secondary Education the opportunity to take the prestigious Cambridge English exams recognized around the world.
As members of BEDA, the students at Centro Cultural Salmantino have the opportunity to sit standardized exams given by Cambridge ESOL at the University of Cambridge.
Our students take these tests in the following way:
- 5 year old Preschool Beda Kids Test
- 6th grade of Primary School: Ket for Schools (A2)/ Pet for Schools (B1)
- 4th grade of Secondary School: First Certificate in English (FCE) (B2)/ Advanced Lever (C1).
Cursos Bilingües en el Centro Cultural Salmantino
Como mencionamos anteriormente, el bilingüismo se está implementando gradualmente. El número de horas académicas semanales asignadas a clases bilingües se desglosa de la siguiente manera:
En Educación Infantil, ofrecemos 5 horas semanales de inglés. Los alumnos de Primaria reciben las siguientes asignaturas en inglés: 5 horas de lengua extranjera (inglés), 2 horas de Educación Artística (música y plástica) y 2,5 horas de Educación Física.
La Educación Secundaria tiene como objetivo reforzar el uso del inglés y la interacción oral mediante actividades comunicativas, preparando al alumnado para un futuro próximo en el que vivirán en un mundo cada vez más globalizado, intercultural y multilingüe . Los contenidos bilingües corresponden a 9 horas semanales de inglés: Lengua Extranjera (5 horas semanales), Educación Física (2 horas semanales) y Ciencias de la Computación (2 horas semanales).
Pruebas estandarizadas: Exámenes Cambridge ESOL
Desde el curso 2010, además de pertenecer al Programa BEDA, nuestro colegio ofrece a los alumnos de Educación Infantil, Primaria y Secundaria la oportunidad de presentarse a los prestigiosos exámenes de Cambridge English reconocidos a nivel mundial.
Como miembros de BEDA , los estudiantes del Centro Cultural Salmantino tienen la oportunidad de presentarse a los exámenes estandarizados impartidos por Cambridge ESOL de la Universidad de Cambridge .
Nuestros alumnos realizan estas pruebas de la siguiente manera:
- Beda Kids para niños de 5 años en Educación Infantil.
- 6º de Educación Primaria : Ket para escuelas(A2)/ Pet para Colegios (B1)
- 4º de Educación Secundaria: First Certificate in English ( FCE ) (B2)/ Advanced Lever (C1)
